What is a lighthouse? It is a tower that guides those lost in the darkness of the sea.
Maiak is an independent media platform created to do the same — to light the way for Ukrainians scattered across the world and help them stay connected to one another and to home.

Maiak tells the stories of ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things. People you might pass on the street without ever knowing their quiet impact. A couple who returned from Switzerland to Ukraine to build homes for families who lost everything to the war. An entrepreneur who left his former life to organize surgical care for the wounded. A boy with autism from Berdiansk who paints remarkable artworks and donates the proceeds to support Ukraine’s defenders.

We believe in preserving authentic Ukrainian culture, supporting social entrepreneurship, challenging myths about refugees and migrants, and building bridges between the Ukrainian diaspora and their homeland.
